Gaming, In and around the Highlands

It's no secret that Inverness and the Highlands has a severe lack of spaces dedicated to nerd/geek and gaming culture. Many have come and gone in Inverness alone, from the nostalgic Nessie's Arcade to the incredibly curious 'Heroes for Sale', sadly nothing seems to last.

With Inverness growing at a stupidly fast rate, the culture for us geeks certainly hasn't followed suit, only recently we lost another staple of the city in Ellerium Games, a boardgame and comic store.

That being said, if you look hard enough there are havens in the Highlands for people like us to enjoy.

Legend Arcade - Fort William

Self proclaimed 'small gaming centre' based out of Fort William, Legend Arcade brings a cool

retro vibe, packed full of CRT's and classic consoles, you are sure to have a good time.

For those looking to visit, they are open Fri-Sun, and also offer special hours for those on the Autism Spectrum.

Contain Yourself - Invergordon

'The Funnest Shop on the North Coast 500', Contain Yourself in Invergordon, brings not only a shop full of goodies to buy but also an arcade space housing a handful of classic games.

Make sure if you are ever in the area you take the time to stop by! Open every day bar Wednesdays.

Based out of Elgin, The Pop Shop is home to hundreds of collectibles, from TCG's, boardgames and plushies to Funko Pops, the original basis for the shop.

The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday, welcoming collectors from far and wide.

Gaming in the Highlands, what's next?

As we mentioned in our bio, North Point Arcade originates from a frustration at a lack of, well, anything within the gaming and geek scene of Inverness. Currently we assist in running Caledonian Clash, a Fighting Game Group that meets once per week within the Caledonian in the city centre. We hope to one day gain premises within Inverness and build something great for the community!
